   The prices in the book database are getting really out of tune, as warned at the login screen:

   "Please note that book prices are not current. Major fluctuations in the market have made it impossible to keep accurate prices up. Prices will be adjusted once the market settles down."

   There is a simple solution to this problem, and I emailed debra about this, but maybe my email never reached her.

   Improveneo is a script that keeps track of all current prices, and prices can be obtained as simply as (for example for kreludan christmas carols)

   for all buyable books. Would it be hard to write a script that gets the price of every book, say once a week, and then updates the prices in the spankaroonietwo database?

   Writing something to collect the prices from this site should not be too much trouble.

   If there was an easy way to populate the databse here with that informaiton then I would be happy to work on it.

   sounds to me like a great idea! maybe it is much work to convert the database system? i dont know. but i am sure people are willing to lend a hand. including me of course. this is a lovely guild

   Maeybe it would be a good idea to let people know that if you want to read books that are not readable in english 'cos your pet finds it boring, you should put your neopets language to nederlands or Deutch and then try to read the book, then you can read it
   I had to hear about this on another site
   and seeing that you guys are the leading book readers of neopia i think you should put it on there

   But i still think it should be on the page where you select your books it only says that your pet should find those books boring not how to handle it

   I would also love to see the database added to, ie a 10000 and under section, 100000 and under section, etc. And yes, the prices are quite outdated. Not that long ago i found a retired book on the 1000 and udner list!

   well I would guess that those lists were compiled once ( a long, long time ago ) and are quite static. The DB is another issue, the point is to make the DB able to follow tarla's desctruction of a poor R95+ from U/B to 1K NP and follow it back up as it ascends veeery sloooowly upwards. its such a long term price change that the DB seems completely out of context, but on the other hand you cant have anyone updating ALL tarlad items every week.

   A script using the link you provided that queries and updates the prices would seem to be the thing to be used for automation... (look @ my other post in ASkASpanky for something similar but different). I really dont think you'd have to change the whole database over this. Help is offered if needed.

   The database is amazingly helpful and you will never get the pricing to stay accurate, because the up and downs are part of the game. You just need to use the wizards to back up the database, when it comes to pricing.

   My pet Tallis_too just got to 500 books today and is at 77 Booktastics, because of all the support that came from the guild. Kudos to everyone who keep this site going.
