Would it be possible to have a contest or some kind of random donation from members of guild banner ideas or guild background ideas for our shops/gallerys? If so who would we or I ask to set something up?

At the risk of seeming a complete idiot can someone tell me how to insert an avatar beside my name on the forums, like Foo's 'Lesser Beared Foo' and Fran's 'Snow yurble in a tutu'. I am sure that I found how to do it before, but I cannot find the instructions now, no matter what I do. Could some kind person please help me? *blushes*

Janet, from the main forum page, click 'view your profile' at the top. Then click the edit tab. From there you find this - Avatar URL: - and place your image link there. Then submit
It won't show the avatar on that page but it will appear next to your posts.

Thanks Foo. I knew that I had seen where to do it somewhere but couldn't remember where. I must need my glasses changed! Anyhow I have managed to insert an avatar. It looks a bit big, but I can resize it if needs be.

It's a reminder of what Stripeytiggercat looked like before Boochi got him (Grr!) and a promise to him that he will be restored to his former glory, just as soon as I have fulfilled my current goal. Don't worry, doing some serious reading to my pet is also part of my post-goal plan.

Worried I may look like a complete fool, but can someone please point me to the location of the world clock I saw mentioned on the site? it said to go to it to see what parts of the world are awake the same time as me, but I can't seem to find this place on the site.

Hi theres guild council.
Not sure how many of you this addresses, you know better than me.
I've had an idea (3-parter+ actually) about a small neopets... "utility "website"(engine)" - basically a subdomain on my server with some sweet php/ajax/js and some good css (for show only which will basically be serenity's list (RIP) taken a few levels deeper into """"""web2.0""""""
What I envision and believe I could/will do given enough time would do the following:a) some sort of mehanism that detects new books faster, almost automatically. many options, "help" from you would be mucho appreciado and would make it automated enough that even if i went on vacation it wouldn't lag behind. The errors from your database which will show the newest books that you dont recognise because they aren't there yet, I could process and find common new names and mark them for moderation (IS new book / ISNT new book) or even set a threshold for auto-add or something. finding out the titles of new books could also be an option with a semi-smart script to try every day the upcoming books' keywords from the image filename until it finds a hit with that image. items.jellyneo.net could help with MIA items so that theres a watchlist of what may become available or even the neopets news feed.
(Since spanky also has the existing list of names, id be using that too so that i dont have to compile 1700 titles myself. you dont need to set anything up for that, ill just copy-paste it from my browser and manipulate it a bit and it'll be fine, but i still have to ask.)
Im not sure how that would end up but there's gotta be a good way of doing it and if i have the data i will find it.
b) incorporate in the same ""website"" my code for book(tastic) award archiving. i already have this and have been archiving since november, albeit at times intermitently. now with some data i can finalize that too and make graphs or find out whos moving up, how fast, who hasnt read a book in ages, etc. if i included a member area where people could sign up and give their email for notifications, i could do wonders with that and give you options that tnt could, if not should. Examples: when your pet gets dethroned from #1 *cough cough* you want to know so you can read the three history of the ski lodges you've been saving for a rainy day. my script could notify you when you're dethroned, move up or down (up only if someone above you is frozen which actually happened since november so I even have that in the 'sample'data).
In order to accomplish this I have made an account @ neo which is used only for accessing the book award list, via script. it does so daily. Richard and I discussed this back then but concluded that we wouldn't risk using the guild account or website for that reason for fear of having our guild account frozen or something, completely agree. However I am a member and what I do is up to me and my responsibility, so if the domain tasinet.gr (moi) accesses with a bot, you guys are in the clear and I am 90% in the clear. I have contacted them and asked them about this in a short essay, both via normal channels and ... TNT editorial. If they didnt reply in three months its their problem. (Being premium also means that you are a paying customer so you dont have to take as much cr..p.. i think. if they dont like it ill take it down anyway).
So, as long as the bot doesnt cheat/steal content, I believe it is ok, TNT - who knows. im already doing it and the bot account is fine.
After I reach that step I would have a platform where a) people could sign themselves up and give an email for notifications and b,c) a bot could collect some information that any player could (book award list, etc) and have interesting info before most other players (book info, new books as soon as released, info on when R101s will be given/plots are going on which will logically have book prizes),
I can expand it into interesting directions:
-trading post watch. When a book is so rare that it never shows up on the TP, is it wrong to script a bot to tell you ONCE the FIRST time a copy of that appears on the TP? (and if it already exists, dont even bother enrolling him/her for that notification) Not really sure. But some books are really hard to even find on the TP, let alone hear their prices.
-new books notifications
-tarlad books notifications
-andon and on and on, imagination is the limit with utility as a goal.
IF and when I push this forward, which I will probably do even if you guys dont want to be involved, (which is absolutely ok) as I will be designing these things for ME first and then for you guys (sorry), the site would be something like1) bookawindex (chosen the name already, copyrightpending),
2) booxlixx (bookslists, dont like the current name, it will change) which would be sereniy's booklist on acid with RSS possibilities, sorting and fetching images or dates added, rarities, etc. I would not take it into the keeping record of what you've read domain, that thang you can do perfectly.
3) members area where you sign up for notifications
a) when a new book comes out
b) when a plot or event which is likely that you wouldn't want to miss in case it gives a book, comes out.
c) when an item` that doesn't exist on the TP when they sign up, first appears (one-off email)
d) tarla'd items?
e) ...
f) Profit!I realise this is long but I think that if I explained the full extent of what I plan to do when I make my own neopets thing, you might be intrested in cooperating as websites between them. I am not going to ask for any kind of sensitive data like people's records of stamps or anything (which could be pri
vate) but, for instance, me and richard would surely find a way to integrate your accounts into mine IF a user of MINE CHOSE to do so. That'd unlock all levels baby, you name it, I could make it happen.So this plan goes a little bit further into it than needed but there's potential here, i think. For starters id like to hear about your opinions / if you think that this would be useful or cheatful, if youd use it, what you'd need, etc.
Dont worry about the "legality" issue of it because I believe I can make it crystal clear that using my site would only give you convenience, not an edge over other people or cheat. It will also not contain ads so as not to put commercial interests in the middle of this. I think its extreme but can be done; if im going to do a neo website, it'll be something like that.
Anyway if anything im giving you an opportunity to get data from me which I get from neopets and if the ,... hits the fan, you go "it was him, we didnt know and we didnt use a bot on YOU, we used a bot on HIM who used a bot on you". Ok, enough, lets hear some reactions.
